I may have not mentioned this in my blog yet, but if you know me, this is no new information: I LOVE IMOGEN HEAP!! I discovered her music in high school when I was working at Uncle Sam’s in Ft. Lauderdale. It was a promo tape of “Come Here Boy” and “Sweet Religion”. I was so into those two songs shortly after I got the whole cd. By now all (well at least most I hope) know of Imogen Heap and more than likely own Speak For Yourself and/or the Frou Frou cd “Details”. You should also get Imegaphone! If you started with Frou Frou or Speak For Yourself, Imegaphone may be a bit of a shock to you. But remember it was the time of Alanis, Tori and Garbage’s prime…and thats kind of what it sounds like..all of them together. But she was what, 17?! When she made it, maybe even younger! The woman is a mad genius! I had the pleasure of field producing(and writing the questions for) an interview with her for a show called On Q Live..sadly it never aired as the show and network both went bye bye. But I bought her a kick ass bracelet from a local jewelry maker and she wore it because I saw it in promo pictures, stills from live shows, etc! Besides the point…She is about done with her new album and has been giving tidbits in her video blog on youtube. I gotta say, it sounds amazing! She is a programming genius and just KNOWS her voice and how to compose. In this blog she reaches out to all of us, asking us to help write her bio via Twitter, and even do the artwork for the album! Its only March, but this year is already shaping up to be a rockin’ year for music!!
Check out the video blog here….also watch vblog #37 as well and all the ones before it. She is a delight to watch, funny, smart, talented, just a joy!
Ps..the picture above is one of the shots in which she is wearing the bracelet I gave her. I did it as a thank you for doing our interview. Below is a more up close look at it while she is playing her Mbira.
